Amanda McKay is the District Director of Greene Soil & Water Conservation District (SWCD) and an Adjunct Professor of Agriculture at Wilmington College. She was born and raised on a large family farm in Southwest Ohio raising corn and soybeans.

She holds a Master of Science in Crop, Soil, and Environmental Science and a Graduate Certificate in Teaching from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. She is also an Alumni of Wilmington College with a Bachelors of Science in Agriculture and History with a Chemistry Minor.

At Greene SWCD, she works closely with federal, state, and local partners to get conservation practices on the ground in rural and urban settings, while providing conservation and agricultural education to all ages. At Wilmington College, she teaches the World Food in both the Spring and Fall semesters and occasionally an Engaging Agricultural Leaders course.

Amanda resides in Wilmington with her husband, Chad McKay and their Scottish Terriers, Delco and Wico.  In their spare time, Amanda and her family enjoys collecting and restoring antique farm machinery, golfing, and traveling.

The District Director (DD) is an employee of the Greene Soil & Water Conservation District and is authorized by Section 940 of the Ohio Revised Code. The employee is under the direct responsibility of the Board of Supervisors. The DD will, as a member of the District staff, carry out the general goals, policies, and objectives of the Greene Soil & Water Conservation District. This employee will be primarily responsible performing program and administrative management functions and promoting the District to elected officials. The DD will provide support to the District Teams as needed in assistance of their programs to further the goals, policies, and objectives of the District. This position has been established to:  

  • To provide the administrative leadership for developing and coordinating District programs and expanding and promoting the District through the programs of other public and private agencies, organizations and individuals 
  • To provide an agent for the Board of Supervisors to be the responsible administrative officer as directed by the Board at all meetings and in all matters concerning the District and its conservation programs 
  • To provide administrative leadership for and to manage District employees
