Grassed Waterways

The following are common conservation practices in this county. Many are eligible for
cost-share programs
. Check your USDA Service Center or Conservation District for more information about these programs in your state or county.

Grassed waterways carry excess rain water through the field without causing erosion. Outlets may be tile, toewalls, rock or cattle panel chutes.

Often fabric check is installed across the slopes to diffuse the flow, preventing gullies from forming. Greene SWCD has a fabric layer machine that farmers may use to install the fabric.

The pictures below show waterways, outlets and the fabric layer machine.
